About Ragdolls

Ragdolls are truly a wonderful breed of cat. They provide everything you could possibly desire in a cat plus a whole lot more in one special package. Ragdoll cats are exceptionally friendly with the innate ability to easily adapt to most situations. With a stunningly gorgeous appearance and a loving and caring disposition, they are also extremely loyal, trusting, charming and remarkably docile; quite simply they are the most special breed of cat that will totally enchant you and steal your heart.

Ragdoll cats are wonderfully affectionate. They enjoy nothing more than having their tummy and chin rubbed, and just like a baby they adore being held and hugged. They love people and will often follow you around wherever you may go; they truly enjoy the time spent with their owner.

The Ragdoll name originates from a child’s rag doll toy. Just like the toy, a Ragdoll will lay in your arms all relaxed and floppy, and often upside down with its paws in the air and its eyes gazing at you with love.

Purely indoor cats, Ragdolls flourish on human companionship and will devote themselves entirely to their owner. They will often greet their owners upon their return and always be in the same room as you, if not on your lap or curled up at your feet.

They are a very gentle cat and never aggressive or hostile. They will never bare there claws or deliberately try to scratch, bite or harm you, it’s not in their nature. They are extremely playful and thoroughly enjoy playing with toys and their owner. As a kitten they are tremendously entertaining providing hours of hilarious fun to their owner.

Often regarded as “dog-like” a Ragdoll cat often follows you around everywhere and have this built in need to please their owners. Like most dogs, they are also very intelligent and are therefore very trainable, for example coming to you when you call their name.

Ragdolls are considered as quite a big boned larger set cat with a normal weight range between 5 – 9 kg and enjoy their food. They are a quietly spoken cat but wonderfully loud purrers! A Ragdoll cat is robust health wise with medical attention a rarity. Females will normally weigh less than males but both have startling deep blue eyes and the luxurious coats that this breed is renowned for. Brushing once a week is recommended and your Ragdoll will enjoy the attention and time immensely.
